Installation (photographs), 2013.

Beasts is an attempt to translate between scientific observations and personal experience. Doing research in the comparative anatomy collection, I caught myself internalizing animal movement: the swipe of a lion’s paw, a deer's delicate step. The black and white images provide morphological information that can be used to identify, classify, infer; the mirrored images are fragments—my body trying to become the animal. Physical homologies become metaphysical; a twisting, turning, dancing body hides behind still images; the human form expands.
